Google Earth, finally available for linux

I have always been a little jealous of all the windows users, because they have been able to use such a cool application as Google Earth. But these days are over by now. Today Google released a new Beta Version of their great tool. Which is finally available for all of us Linux Geeks out there. You can download it directly at there site.

As far as I could see Google changed the complete user interface to be a lot more intuitive. Another great improvement has been done by adding support for textured buildings. If you enable the 3d overlays, you will get to see nicely textured buildings in the future. There aren't a lot of detailed 3d overlays by now, but the great devlopers over at Google have implemented a new system which will let you draw such models with Google Sketchup. You can send them in and after they have been approved these models will be commited to the Google Earth data pool.
